Do you want to see a film that looks deep into the world’s current class and race divide and ask the question of what will happen if we let hate consume us?
The Promised Land is that film. A post apocalyptic short from American writer/director Johan Eskew and UK Producer Scott Lyus. They believe this is a story that needs telling and one are very much hope you will help us bring to life. Be it via backing or simply spreading the word.
The Promised Land was born as an idea from writer/director Johan Eskew. Currently a student of the London Film School, Johan is originally from the US and travelled to the UK to broaden his knowledge of filmmaking around the world. Inspired by the worlds past and current issues with race, class and the nightmare of where the world may be heading, The Promised Land takes a deep look into said issues and presents them in a film that we hope will ask all the right questions.
Teaming up with UK filmmaker Scott Lyus, our aim is to create not only an outstanding student film for Johan’s final major project, but a harrowing short film that tackles some of the worlds most current and disturbing issues; taking the film on a world wide festival tour.
By supporting and helping back this campaign, you will truly be helping a student of cinema and a rising voice in independent cinema.
The original concept film:
The film follows Ross a 23-year-old Afro-Latin woman, living in an America scarred by a civil war, who scavenges for food and supplies to take to her safe house, all while on the run from the Enforcers. Along the way Ross is discovered by a young 11-year-old Caucasian girl, Lina, who is simply trying to get back home.
Looking out for herself, Ross attempts to distance herself from the young girl as she presents an immediate danger by association. In this world, Race does not mix. But leaving the girl behind is not an option and Ross soon finds herself on a journey to help Lina find her way home, all while trying to stay out of reach of the Enforcers.
