The BBC have announced that the music of John Williams will be a main feature at this year’s 123rd Proms, to celebrate the 85th birthday of film composer.
Classic themes from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws and Indiana Jones will be featured at the concert on 20th July 2017.
“Will people come dressed as Star Wars characters? I’d be really disappointed if they don’t,” said Proms director David Pickard, who also praised William’s “wonderful, varied” scores.
Unfortunately Williams will not be able to attend the concert, as his age prevents him from taking trans-Atlantic flights. This was a contributing factor in the London Symphony Orchestra losing the opportunity to land the next generation of Star Wars films.
