In a world where everyone and everything is getting rebooted NBC have decided to add Witchblade to the list.
Created by Brian Haberlin, Marc Silvestri, David Wohl, and the late Michael Turner, Witchblade debuted in the Top Cow comic of the same name in 1995 and ran for ten years (185 issues).
Witchblade follows NYPD homicide detective Sara Pezzini, who comes into possession of the Witchblade, a supernatural, sentient bracelet which bonds with a female host and provides them with a variety of powers in order to fight supernatural evil. Sara struggles to hone the powers of the Witchblade and fend off those with a dangerous interest in it, such as entrepreneur Kenneth Irons and his bodyguard Ian Nottingham.
In 2000, Witchblade was made into a television starring Hero of Cult Yancy Butler but despite critical acclaim it was cancelled after one season. The new series is being developed by Carol Mendelsohn (CSI) and Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries).
