Bulletproof walks that fine line of action movies where you just cannot tell if this was supposed to be deadly serious or just a fun mockery of the genre.
It opens with a clan of terrorists, of all backgrounds and types, seizing the “Thunderblast” – a top-secret super tank, and hiding it in Mexico. These terrorists are made up a who’s who of Cult Faction faces including Brogado played by Rene Enriquez of Hill Street Blues; Libyan Kartiff (Henry Silva), a Russian Major (William Smith), Thalmus Rasulala (Blacula), L.Q. Jones (The Wild Bunch), Mills Watson (Cujo), R.G. Armstrong (Race with the Devil), Luke Askew (Rolling Thunder), Lincoln Kilpatrick (The Omega Man), Lydie Denier (Satan’s Princess), Juan Fernandez (The Collector), Redmond Gleeson (Dreamscape), and the legend that is Danny Trejo!
The task of recovering it is entrusted to “Bulletproof” Frank McBain (Gary Busey ), a former secret agent and current cop. “Bulletproof” is nicknamed this because of the amount of bullets that his body has taken (39 and counting) – all which he keeps as souvenirs in a mason jar in his bathroom!
