Review: Batman – The Killing Joke (film)
DC have put some classic stories into animation over the years and produced some amazing animated movies. This is not one of them. The second half of the movie is close but is totally destroyed but the first half of the movie.
Now don’t get me wrong the voice cast smashed it, it is the script that lets them down. As you know The Killing Joke wasn’t the longest of graphic novels so to make up for it we have additionally material of Barbara Gordon / Bat Girl acting like a even more desperate Carrie Bradshaw running around after her Mr Bigg -Batman.
Then THAT scene happens. Holy Bat Pole!
After that Batgirl is stalking him even more and it is just makes you cringe when watching. I was waiting for her to buy Batman a gun rack for his birthday… #psychohosebeast
Once the opening crap is out the way and Hamill takes centre stage as The Joker we get what we paid for. If you know The Killing Joke then you know the twists and turns of what happens. The film even hints that Joker may have done a little more than take pictures – which has been debated for years (I know Moore said it didn’t happen).
All in all, it is probably worth a watch once. Will I watch it again, doubtful. What could of been a dark exploration of DC turned into Sex in the Gotham City.
Rating: 5/10

I just wrote a rant about the first half and I felt a bit bad about it but it’s reassuring that other people agree!
