Deadpool: The Movie (2016)

What can be said about Deadpool that you haven’t read else where? Not much! It is funny, entertaining, breaks the 4th, 5th, and 6th walls and keeps up the pace to ensure its audience does not drift of into exposition land.

Everyone involved delivers and everyone involved looked happy to be in a comic book movie that was a little out-there! I’m not going to go through the scenes – go watch it yourselves, but what I am going to do is tell you why I liked it.

Yeah it was good, now Hollywood is falling over itself trying to work out its secret formula. Why is it so successful? Why did it make so much money? How can we replicate this?

Well I am going to tell you.

The reason Deadpool is a great movie is because those who made it cared deeply about the source material. They did not think they know better – they respected the material and even more so, they respected the fans of that material.

The story is actually pretty basic – in fact it is one nearly every 80’s action movie has followed right up to the girlfriend kidnapping, but just how they delivered that story – in a manner true to the source characters is what sets Deadpool apart from the masses *Cough Fantastic 4*

That’s it Hollywood – pure and simple. The message is clear. The box office has spoken. Respect the source material and the source material will respect you all the way to the bank.

Shoop!
