It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report Brooke McCarter, who played Paul in The Lost Boys, has died at the age of 52 years old following a long battle with Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency.
McCarter was born on April 22nd 1963. He was named after his father and his mother’s name is Maria. Brooke also has a sister named Melissa and a brother named Robert. His athletic ability led to him obtaining a place in Ohio State University on a racquetball scholarship. Not only did he play sports he was a model as well.
When McCarter was 14 he won a model contest called “New Faces”. He dropped out of college to act, and studied in New York. McCarter made appearances in the new The Twilight Zone in 1987 in an episode called Joy Ride/Shelter Skelter/Private Channel. His next appeared as Tyler in Thrashin’ (1986). Then in 1986, he took a role in a film that would soon become the cult classic known as The Lost Boys where he played Paul.
It was whilst filming The Lost Boys that McCarter became good friends with Corey Haim, becoming his manager through the 90’s. He was in a film with Corey called Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color: Double Switch (1987), and was credited as a song performer in his movie Fast Getaway (1991).

In 1998, he took a ten-year hiatus from Hollywood to pursue other business interests in the telecommunications industry. In 2009, McCarter returned to cult horror movie status with the lead role in horror icon Herschell Gordon Lewis’s Uh-Oh Show.
