It is nearly time! He will return!
Peter Capaldi graces us once more with his presence as the Twelfth Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which is disguised as a British police box – as if you did not know! Jenna Coleman also returns as the Doctor’s companion, Clara Oswald, for her third and now confirmed final series in the role. Also returning will be Missy aka The Master played by Michelle Gomez.:
Season 9’s first episode is called The Magician’s Apprentice and has been written by showrunner/head writer Steven Moffat and directed by Hettie MacDonald (Season 3, Episode 10: Blink). Season 9 promises longer storylines and this is reflected in The Magician’s Apprentice which is the first of a two parter.
When speaking about the new series Capadli commented: “ For those who are nostalgic [about] the Daleks of the Sixties, there are some special surprises in store.” Other episodes will include the return of the Zygons, Vikings, robots, a wave of subaquatic ghosts.
Gomez notes that the relationship between Missy and Clara is explored in greater depth this season: “the dynamic between Missy and Clara takes on a whole new shape and not one I had imagined. There is something not quite right about it that makes for slightly unnerving viewing.”
Several familiar faces pop up, including River Song, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart – Head of secret government agency UNIT, Joivan Wade as Rigsy – the graffiti artist from Flatline, and Clare Higgins reprises her role as Ohila, part of the Sisterhood of Karn.
