With the Fantastic 4 movie set to drop on August 7th 2015, X-Men director Bryan Singer has sparked talks of a crossover:
“Those ideas are in play,” he told Yahoo Movies. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it. It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.”
Now you know what Cult Faction thinks about the new FF movie! Could these chats be a way of sparking interest in the dead horse they are flogging? Are they just playing us? Or perhaps it is a built in reboot for when the FF movie turd floats away? Singer comments:
“We’ll have to see how the films turn out,” he said of both Fantastic 4 and his own upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, which also softly reboots the X-Men with younger versions of the core team. “To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that.”
The key point in this discussion is that both movies share a screenwriter/producer in the form of Simon Kinberg, so I guess we will see what happens.
All in all, it would appear the success of the Fantastic 4 movie could be the huge hinge on which this potential hangs. So chances are it will never happen then!
