Reports are coming in that Josh Trank has cancelled the previously-promoted 3D conversion of the Fantastic Four reboot, which will now only screen in 2D per the director’s artistic specifications. Although early posters and trailers touted “Real D 3D,” new promotional materials had removed it, and then the switch was confirmed by a statement released through 20th Century Fox.
“I want the viewing experience of ‘Fantastic Four’ to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie,” said Trank.
Large speculations blame this on all behind-the-scenes turmoil that began with extensive reshoots that likely did not leave adequate time for the conversion process to be completed.
