Patty Jenkins to direct Wonder Woman

Following Michelle MacLaren’s abrupt departure over “creative differences,” (including wanting Wonder Woman to have a tiger sidekick) Variety is now reporting that Patty Jenkins has been approached to take over the job.

Sources say MacLaren’s departure was only a minor speed bump, and production is still set to begin in the fall as originally planned.

Jenkins was the first choice to direct another big comic book film, Thor: The Dark World, but eventually left the project, also because of creative differences, with Marvel finally securing Alan Taylor for the gig.

Jenkins recently worked in TV, directing episodes of “The Killing” and “Betrayal.” Her feature debut was the critically acclaimed “Monster” in 2003, which won Charlize Theron an Oscar.
