Lana Condor to play Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse
Bryan Singer announced via Instagram Wednesday that actress Lana Condor will play mutant Jubilee (aka Jubilation Lee) in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse.
“I’d officially like to welcome our newest mutant #JubilationLee, #Jubilee @LanaCondor to #XMEN #Apocalypse,” Singer wrote in the post. The latest installment in the “X-Men” franchise will be Condor’s debut gig.
In the “X-Men” universe, Jubilee is a teenage mutant capable of generating explosive plasmoids from her hands. She was a central character in the 1990’s cartoon series and in the 1996 Generation X TV movie was played by Heather McComb.
Condor is the most recent hire for the film. Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp will portray Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm, respectively.
The film will reunite previous stars James McAvoy (Professor Xavier) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine). Oscar Issac will play mutant antagonist Apocalypse.
