Batman – Arkham Asylum

In this ground-breaking, beautifully painted graphic novel by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean, the inmates of Arkham Asylum have taken over Gotham’s detention centre for the criminally insane on April Fools Day and have demanded Batman in exchange for their hostages.

Accepting their demented challenge, Batman is forced to live and endure the personal hells of the Joker, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Two-Face and many other sworn enemies in order to save the innocents and retake the prison, jeopardising his own sanity.

A great introduction to the world of Gotham’s many psychopathic criminals and the Dark Knight’s Lovecraftian penitentiary!

  1. Of course this is a cult classic!
This is an artistic masterpiece in aesthetics and storytelling. One of my favorite graphic novels, second only to the Killing Joke
