Famous cult star and director, Dennis Hopper may have left this mortal coil but his work lives on. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of one of his hidden gems, Out of the Blue (starring the iconic Hopper, Linda Manz, Sharon Farrell and Raymond Burr), the film has received a 4K restoration treatment and will premiere at the Metrograph in New York City on November 17th 2021.
Hopper who was known for starting the indie revolution with the groundbreaking, Easy Rider, tackles the punk rock scene in this drama. In the feature, the actor portrays truck driver, Don Barnes, a struggling alcoholic who does a stint in prison for smashing his rig into a school bus full of children.
Manz plays his daughter, Cebe, an Elvis and Sex Pistols obsessed teenager who can no longer cope with her junkie waitressing mother’s (Farrell) addiction and the never-ending parade of her boyfriends. She escapes to Vancouver where she immerses herself in punk culture. Unfortunately, she ends up on probation and under the care of a psychiatrist (Burr).
Meanwhile, her father is released from jail. As he attempts to reconcile with his wife and daughter, secrets are revealed that may change their lives forever.
