Argent Pictures, Memory and Normal Content are delighted to announce the European Premiere of its critically acclaimed CROWS ARE WHITE at London Film Festival on 12th October.
Directed and Produced by Ahsen Nadeem, written by Ahsen Nadeem, Matt H. Mayes and Dawn Light Blackman and Produced by Riel Roch-Decter, Sebastian Pardo, Jill Ahrens, Ryan Ahrens and Ben Renzo, CROWS ARE WHITE had its World Premiere at SXSW this year.
For over a thousand years, a secretive Buddhist sect has lived in an isolated monastery in Japan performing acts of extreme physical endurance, in their pursuit for enlightenment. In CROWS ARE WHITE, filmmaker Ahsen Nadeem is struggling to reconcile his desires with his faith and sets off to the strict monastery in search of answers. Ahsen’s arrival is not immediately welcomed and the only monk who will speak with him is an outcast who prefers ice cream and Slayer to meditation. Together they forge an unlikely friendship that leads them to higher truths and occasionally, a little trouble. Shot over five years on three continents, CROWS ARE WHITE is an exploration of truth, faith and love, from the top of a mountain to the bottom of a sundae.
CROWS ARE WHITE has screened at SXSW, Hot Docs, DocAviv, BamcinemaFest and Camden International Film Festival.
Director Ahsen Nadeem said: “It’s a great honour for Crows Are White to have its European premiere at the London Film Festival. During the five years of making this film, the lives of everyone involved changed dramatically. I’m excited to share this very unusual story.”
