Reva Sevander (Moses Ingram) uses the knowledge she gained from Part V to travel to Tatooine in search of Luke (Grant Feely) whilst Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen/James Earl Jones) edges closer in his pursuit of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Upon realising he is putting everyone in danger, Kenobi does a Luke in return of the Jedi, and heads off to battle Vader one-on-one on a nearby planet.
Whilst Vader battle Kenobi, Reva arrives at the Lars moisture farm homestead and chases Luke into the desert. She can’t kill him though because she still has good in her. Kenobi turns up at the end and praises her for not turning to the dark side.
Back on Alderaan, Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) is in full Princess mode and thanks Kenobi, Kenobi also makes peace with Owen Lars and later has a vision of his deceased master, Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). Vader meanwhile is being fully fixed and restored in his castle on Mustafar. he promises Emperor Palpatine his full loyalty and abandons his search for Kenobi.
Verdict: 6/10. Crawling across the finish line, Obi-Wan Kenobi whilst being entertaining, feels like the combination of deleted scenes from Star Wars’ past. Was the show entertaining? Yes, it was, but what did it achieve? Well to start with it seemed to ignore everything established about Kenobi and his time on Tatooine from the cartoons. Everyone wanted the Darth Maul final showdown played out in live action; but we did not get it. Now I get that could happen later in perhaps a Season 2, but the fact remains- we had a well-made mini-series with a great cast, especially Blair, that does little to expand what we know only muddying it.
