Directed by Al Adamson, The Possession of Nurse Sherri (aka Nurse Sherri aka Black Voodoo aka Beyond the Living aka Hospital of Terror aka Killer’s Curse aka Hands of Death) stars Jill Jacobson, Geoffrey Land, and Marilyn Joi. It follows a hospital nurse Sherri Martin (Jill Jacobson) who is possessed by an evil spirit, and proceeds to kill off the hospital’s patients.
Her bedside manner will keep you in stitches!
Sherri become possessed after a cult leader named Reanhauer (Bill Roy) suffers a heart attack attempting to revive the dead body of one of his disciples. Reanhauer is rushed to hospital but the surgical staff refuse to treat Reanhaur because of his cult actions and he dies. His spirit then leaves his body, coalesces into a glowing, green glob and takes possession of one of the attending nurses, Sherri Martin. Controlling Sherri’s mind and body, Reanhauer is able to exact his revenge against the hospital staff that allowed him to die as well as anyone else who crosses his path.
What makes The Possession of Nurse Sherri unique is that it defies the conventions of the possession genre. To start with it contains no exorcism scenes or priests chanting. Instead we get Jill Jacobson speaking in a man’s voice and killing people with pitchforks and knives!
