In Cobra Kai Season 3 Ep. 4: The Right Path, Daniel (Ralph Macchio) visits Okinawa Island and finds the village he once visted with Mr. Miyagi has now been modernised. One thing that has not changed though is that Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) is still teaching children traditional dances. Whilst Daniel is in Okinawa, Johnny (William Zabka) tries his best to repair his relationship with his son Robby (Tanner Buchanan) including showing up at his community service programme.
Meanwhile back at Hill Valley High a football (aka soccer) game turns into a hard hitting affair when the Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do students begin to take out their aggression on each other. This results in detentions being issued and Samantha (Mary Mouser) is not happy!
Later whilst drinking in a bar Johnny is confronted by Kreese (Martin Kove). Johnny threatens to kill Kreese if he go nears Miguel or his family. It would seem Kreese has ignited a spark in Johnny.
Verdict: 9/10. An amazing episode both in storyline and nostalgia. Daniel’s time in Okinawa and the bonus of bringing back Tamlyn Tomita and Yuji Okumoto helps add some layers of sympathy to the charcter that have been missing. The episode really explores the relationship between Sensai and student in both positive and negative ways. Like the Ying Yang, the show continues to mirror itself in the light and the dark. How this dynamic will resolve is what keeps the viewers hooked.
