After our diversion last week our Zomboat crew begin travelling in the right direction and end up back where they first got on the boat. This also happens to be right near the hotel where Sunny (Hamza Jeetooa) and Amar (Ryan McKen) were celebrating their friend Gav’s (Vahid Gold) stag party. Amar convinces the crew that they need to check on their friends to make sure they are ok. Kat (Leah Brotherhead) decides to join them whilst Jo (Cara Theobold) stays to watch the boat and because she desperately wants a shower to get rid of the blood and guts she got covered with in Episode 2. She has previously been told she is not allowed a shower to save boat fuel but views this as a sneaky way to get one.
As the trio venture into the hotel Sunny realises Kat is enjoying herself a bit too much for an apocalypse realising she is treating the whole thing like a computer game whilst flashbacks allow us insight into Sunny and Amar’s friendship. With a host obstacles from Elton John, Donald Trump and a Zombie “Burlesque” dancer the trio battle up each level. All whilst Jo (who feels guilty if she uses boat fuel) sneaks into the hotel for a shower and pampering session leaving the boat unguarded!
Verdict: 8/10. Whilst last week was the more solid episode as a apckage, this week;s episode is a massive step forward for the show. Seeds have clearly been plated for future episodes whilst we get some character motivation and development. The strength on the show is in our main crew of four and as we are getting more familiar with them the storylines are benefitting from it. The flow of the Story A and Story B works even better this episode with the end connection was a big payoff. Another massive step in the right direction from a show that will always be on the fringe of the British sitcom scene but what a bloody fringe it is!
