Creepshow Ep. 3: All Hallows Eve/The Man in the Suitcase

The third episode of Creepshow begins with All Hallows Eve a tale written by Bruce Jones and directed by John Harrison. Unfortunately in less than a minute it was clear what was about to unfold. I think the revelation later in the episode was meant to shock but instead was weak on impact.

Whilst our young trick or trickers (Connor Christie, Madison Thompson, Andrew Eakle, Jasun Jabbar and Michael May) act their way through Halloween night in an excellent manner the uneasiness of the townsfolk they meet spoils what is about to unfold. Perhaps more could have been done to elevate their delivery? Instead we are stuck with a tale that reeks of familiarity and unpredictability.

Verdict: 5/10 What could have been an interesting take on Halloween night instead becomes something than has been done better by other TV shows in recent years. There are some awesome easter-eggs in the Club House though, keep your eyes peeled!

David Buchner’s The Man in the Suitcase on the other hand plays a Hitchcock card to some great effect with four man characters all in one room at the same time. In the episode we meet the recently dumped Justin (Will Kidrachuck) who on his way back from a recent trip accidently picks up the wrong suitcase at the airport. The case he picks up contains a man (Ravi Naidu) who has been badly contorted to fit into the case. To make things even weirder every time the man is in pain he spits out ancient gold coins.  How will the temptation of gold effect Justin and his friends?

Verdict: 7/10. The power of money can change a person and this tale of twists and turns delves deep into just how it impacts people and when is too much money a bad thing.

Overall: 6/10. Another great episode of Creepshow that only really looses points due to the predictability of All Hallows Eve. If you haven’t seen in of the show yet you really do need to check it out.
