Written by William Goldstein and James Whiton and directed by Robert Fuest, The Abominable Dr. Phibes is a dark comedy that follows Dr. Anton Phibes (Vincent Price), a famous concert organist and expert in theology and music. Phibes is a grieving man who blames the medical team that attended to his wife (Caroline Munro) for her death four years prior.
Phibes sets out on a mission to get revenge on each member of the medical team with each murder he commits inspired by the Ten Plagues of Egypt from the Old Testament. His mission begins when he fakes his own death via car crash in Switzerland in 1921, and re-emerges secretly in London in 1925 looking for revenge.
Helped on his mission by the beautiful but mysteriously silent Vulnavia (Virginia North), Phibes begins his mission by killing three doctors. These murders gain the attention of Scotland Yard’s Inspector Harry Trout (Peter Jeffrey) who begins his investigation and slowly starts to put the pieces together…
