Il Venditore di Palloncini (1974)
Mario Gariazzo’s Il Venditore di Palloncini (aka The Last Circus Show aka Last Moments aka The Balloon Vendor) follows Giacomino (played by Renato Cestiè ) a little boy abandoned by his mother (a variety dancer) and raised by an alcoholic father.
Over the years it is the boy who has to take care of his father, dedicating himself to a puppet show to survive in some way. He longs to reunite his family and go to the circus.
Giacomino is sweet, innocent, and hardworking but sadly he is dying from a severe form of anemia.
Later Giacomino is hospitalised and receives a visit from his mother and a mysterious “balloon salesman”…
