When teens turn into monsters, a high-level special ops unit steps in to keep things quiet; that is, until the full force of Project: Behemoth is unleashed upon the world!
When Monkeybrain’s sci-fi/horror series Behemoth launched this summer it stood out for its creepy and intriguing premise: monstrously mutated teens coerced into brutal training for a top-secret military operation. As the series unfolded it revealed something more: a beating heart theme of camaraderie-in-adversity and coming of age under impossible circumstances. It’s a fast-paced genre YA story with a focus on actual young adult anxieties:
In the final chapter, available next week exclusively on, the team — such as it is — is deployed on its first mission, and following the tragic events of the previous issue, our main character Theresa has gone full beast mode. Sure, she’s facing a small army, but we also haven’t seen the full extent of her power until now. The real question isn’t how many soldiers she can disembowel, though, it’s whether or not she can pull herself together long enough to lead the team back home — and if she even cares anymore!
“Theresa’s body is changing — transforming, really — into a monstrous brute she can barely recognize. Before she can understand what’s happening, she’s captured by a special ops team claiming to protect her family from her increasingly violent outbursts. Theresa is cut off from the life she knew, pitted against even scarier and stronger monsters, and given a choice: she can surrender to becoming a mindless beast, or join Behemoth, a pack of creatures trained to kill for the U.S. government. But which choice will make her more of a monster?”
