Alien Nation is a classic sci-fi movie from 1988 that starred James Caan as a human police detective and Mandy Patinkinas his alien partner.
It was gritty, dark movie that used the Alien / Human relationship as a backdrop to explore racism amongst other things.
Following the movie a TV series spun off onto FOX with Gary Graham and Eric Pierpoint in the lead roles. The series went deeper into the differences of both races but only ran for one season and a few TV movies.
